We train those who either desire a career break, career change, or enhancement of a TEFL career.  The TEFL Academy offers the most respected course in Chile not only from the point of view of its graduates but also from the perspective of the many universities, language schools and private and public high schools and elementary schools. 

Created out of a local demand for teachers, the TEFL Academy quickly became an international player in the field of training after schools recognized the quality of the teachers that finished its intense program.  We have trained teachers who have gone on to work in every continent in every teaching scenario, whether it’s for volunteer programs, universities, private schools specializing in business English, or for kids. 

The TEFL Academy is a U.S. company that operates in Santiago, Chile.  Our responsibilities include:

  "Taking the 4 week intensive TEFL course at the TEFL Academy in Santiago, Chile was one of the best and most challenging experiences I've ever had. During the 4 weeks, I spent time in the classroom learning grammar techniques, teaching games and how to deal with problems or conflicts that may arise in the classroom. The other half of the class was spent working on lesson plans, and then finally teaching your own class based on the specific lesson plan that you created.

 The most challenging aspect was learning how to produce and deliver an effective lesson plan. In preparation for teaching a class, all lesson plans had to have an appropriate lesson aim, be cohesive to the level of the students, and timed well. Among these it also had to have a proper warm up, and have a lexical and phonetic objective. Along with the lessons, I had to replicate and sometime invent games and activates to help keep students busy and interested in the lesson.

 The experiences I had while taking the TEFL course are going to continue to help me with my further education experiences. I will carry that knowledge with me into my future education courses. I feel that it has already given me a head start in understanding the fundamental aspects of what it is to be an organized and prepared teacher. I hope to go abroad again this summer to continue teaching English."
